"Asia Ethnoscience and Local Wisdom"

Indonesia, with its diverse ethno-science and local wisdom, offers a unique opportunity to investigate the possibility of developing an open and responsible attitude as an Asian citizen. The findings of the research have been used to enrich ethnoscience lectures and local wisdom at Sociology Education Program of Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha and have become an offered courses across faculties and universities in Indonesia. This indicates that the ethnoscience and local wisdom courses have an open space for developing a welcoming attitude toward one another in the context of realizing equality. The main purpose of conducting guest lectures from various perspectives is to broaden students' knowledge of Ethnoscience and Local Wisdom in the scope of theory, methodology, and implementation to preserve peace in Asian region.

This purpose is in the same direction with Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha vision to be an excellent university based on the Tri Hita Karana philosophy. The basic concept of Tri Hita Karana teachings is that humans live in harmony with God, fellow humans, and nature and this trichotomy concept is in line with Eurasia's philosophical background, which is to build a peaceful Asian region through education. The North Bali area, where Undiksha is located, is rich in ethnoscience and local wisdom research spaces to explore. There are residential centers in this area for various ethnic groups from various regions of Indonesia (Javanese, Bugis, Sundanese, Chinese) who have lived for generations. Furthermore, there are indigenous villages that are still strong in preserving ethnoscience and local wisdom, such as Sidatapa, Cempaga, Tigawasa, Pedawa and Banyuseri, generally known as the SCTPB Village.

The following studies have been conducted in indigenous village areas and are closely related to the excavation of ethnoscience and local wisdom.

  1. Pemelekan and Pengebugan in Tradisional Gangsing Game in Pedawa Village, Buleleng, Bali (Representation of Strengthening Gender Social for Women and Men)
  2. Bali's Kayoman Youth Ecoliteracy Movement in Pedawa Village, Buleleng (Patterns of Indigenous Community-Based Ecological Movement in Building Community Character Values)
  3. Youth Expressive Movement in Building Collective Awareness (Initiating a Social Engineering Model for Indigenous Communities in Buleleng, Bali)
  4. Patterns of Ecofeminism Knowledge Transmission Based on Saba Rituals in Pedawa Village, Buleleng, Bali.
