Singaraja– Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) continued to improve performance in the field of webometrics. It was conducted through a virtual seminar, Tuesday (16/2/2021). Webometrics is a system that provides an assessment on World Class University progress, through web performance which consists of website quality and scientific performance. In 2021, the assessment indicators include visibility, such as: unique external links connected to university’s web domains (inlinks) recorded by search engines (Google), transparency/openness, or the number of citations from the top 210 authors sourced from Google Scholar, Excellence, is the number of scientific publication articles by academics indexed in high-reputed international journals with sources from Scimigo.
In this seminar, there were three speakers such as: Vice-Rector of Undiksha for Academic and Partnership Affairs, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.TI., who conveyed Undiksha’s existing condition in Webometric performance. Undiksha was in the top hundred in national level. However, he said that Undiksha was necessary to improve their performance, to conduct evaluation by referring to the assessment indicators. “This indicators become our reference for Webometric performance, including evaluation to be better,” he said.
Furthermore, Undiksha already had a number of systems to support web performance. Several systems frequently accessed by the public that were capable of supporting Webometrics ranking such as: e-journals, repositories, libraries, Undiksha information portals, and information portals for faculties, study programs, units and institutions. “To increase this access, we need to cooperate with various parties, such as the media and so on,” he added.
Prof. Dr. Ketut Buda Artana, S.T., M.Sc, was the second speaker. He was from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November (ITS) Surabaya who delivered the material “University Strategy and Strengthening the Role of the Academic Community in Improving Webometric Performance”. On this topic, it was clearly stated that the academic community also played a role in supporting the ranking of webomatrics. He also stated that it was necessary to make the university website as a space for accessing information.
The third speaker was Dwi Kristianto S.T., M.Kom. He presented the material “Strengthening Webometrics Through Implementation of Search Engine Optimization (SEO)”. SEO was a series of processes that were carried out systematically to increase the volume and quality of traffic visits through search engines. (PR)
