The Menwa B-920/Jayastambha Student Activity Unit, Ganesha Education University (Undiksha) held a National Defense Creativity and Knowledge Competition (LKPBN) at the junior high school/MTS and high school/vocational school levels throughout Bali. The opening took place at the Faculty of Sports and Health (FOK) GOR, on Saturday (10/11/2018). The competition, which closed on Sunday (11/11/2018), is a way to foster a sense of love for the homeland.
This competition is a series of activities for the 54th Menwa Ugracena Bali Menwa Battalion B-920/Jayastambha anniversary activities. There were three core activities carried out, namely marching creativity competitions, quizzes, and posters.
Yonmenwa Trustee, I Putu Gede Parma, S.St.Par., M.Par., revealed that this activity which carries the theme “Creating Creativity in the Young Generation to Defend the Nation” is a routine agenda every year. “It is our responsibility to participate in helping the government to disseminate and educate the younger generation so that from the start they will have the character of love for the country, love for the country and have the spirit of leadership,” he said accompanied by the Commander of Menwa, I Gede Guntur Juliana.
He further stated that Indonesian society is currently under pressure. The feeling of love for the homeland has begun to erode. Likewise with polite and courteous attitudes. In response to this, there needs to be a character improvement. This competition was held as a strategy. “Knowledge of defending the country is very important to foster a love for the country. “This is something that needs to continue to be promoted,” he added.
Head of the Buleleng Kesbangpolinmas Agency, I Komang Sumertajaya who represented the Regent of Buleleng, Putu Agus Suradnyana really appreciated the implementation of this competition. “We really appreciate the activities carried out by Undiksha. It is very suitable because of the fact that national defense in the community and schools has decreased. “This also applies to pride in this very diverse and rich country,” he said.
It is hoped that this activity can be carried out every year. The participants can also be expanded, from elementary school to the university level. “Because this activity is to develop a love for the country. “Future generations as agents of development and change must maintain national values, citizenship education, and national defense must continue to be promoted,” he concluded.
