Singaraja- The Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) at the University of Education of Ganesha (Undiksha) is filled with material for defending the state, Friday (13/8/2021). This material was delivered by a resource person from the IX/Udayana Military Command, Colonel Inf. Made Suharsana.
He explained that the attitude of defending the country is very important to be instilled and nurtured in students amidst the problems that are still being faced by the Indonesian nation, such as poverty, unequal education, distribution of welfare, health, and the most actual the Covid-19 pandemic. Another problem is the waning of national identity which has caused many people to fall for it and forget about the former warriors who sacrificed their bodies and souls for the independence of this nation. “The function of defending the country is clear to defend the country from various threats, to maintain the territorial integrity of the country. This is the duty of every citizen and is a historical calling. Meanwhile, the goal is to maintain the survival of the nation and state, preserve culture, and carry out the values of Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution. Let’s do our best for the nation and state, maintaining the identity and integrity of the nation and state,” he said.
Delivered further, the form of state defense can be through citizenship education, basic military training, service as a TNI soldier, and service in accordance with the profession. Especially for students, it can be instilled through extracurricular activities carried out using various methods, such as lectures, discussions, forum group discussions, workshops, demonstrations, problem-solving, learning while playing, and so on. Through these activities, it is hoped that they will be able to develop the values of loving the motherland, being aware of the nation and state, believing in Pancasila as the state ideology, being willing to sacrifice for the nation and state, and having the initial ability to defend the country. From this explanation, it was concluded that defending the country is the right and obligation of all components of citizens. (hms)
