Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) is holding the 2021 Achievement Student Selection (Pilmapres). The peak of the award took place online, Thursday (25/3/2021). The winner in this prestigious event was Ni Made Sindy Warasniasih for the undergraduate level and Putu Bimantara for the Diploma III level. Both of these students come from the Faculty of Economics.
Chairman of the Pilmapres Committee, Dr. I Wayan Widiana, S.Pd., M.Pd., said that this event is a student competition that is held nationally by the Ministry of Education and Culture every year. The selection process starts from the faculty, university, and regional level and continues to the national level. Especially at Undiksha, the selection was made of 35 students, namely 11 people from the D-III level and 24 people from the undergraduate level. “At every stage of the selection process it is always carried out strictly, fully disciplined assessment, by following national guidelines which refer to the performance of individual students who meet the selection criteria, consisting of six elements, namely GPA, having superior and proud achievements, being able to write sincere works scientific knowledge, have the ability in the field of English, then proceed with the Computer Based Test (CBT) process and national insight,” he said.
At the university level selection, the committee applies the concept training center. Participants first take part in quarantine and special coaching which is then followed by a section. This process provides more abilities and competencies that participants must have. “We hope students can show their best abilities,” he said. Delivered further, in coaching, the speakers presented were not only from Undiksha but also credible people who had been involved at the national level. The material provided is in the form of achievement motivation, writing scientific papers in English, making posters, interview training in English, Computer Based Test (CBT), attitude test, and national insight. “University-level selection, coaching is carried out in two stages. The first is selecting the winner and the second is preparing for the national level,” he explained.
Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd appreciated this activity because it was still being carried out in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. “On behalf of myself and the leadership of Undiksha, I would like to thank the team that has facilitated the holding of this activity. This activity is not simple, but there are also efforts made,” he said. Furthermore, the Chancellor from Nusa Dua, Badung Regency hopes that the students who participated in the Pilmapres event will continue to improve their academic achievements, skills, creativity, innovation, and attitudes. “Besides that, you must also be confident and proud to be an Undiksha student,” he said.
As a relatively young university, Undiksha always tries its best so that more and more students achieve achievements and can outperform other universities. The steps taken are to form a number of coaching teams. Achievements, especially at the international level as one of the supporters to accelerate the realization of Undiksha’s vision, which is to become a superior university based on the philosophy of Tri Hita Karana in Asia in 2045. “Undiksha has formed a number of teams to support performance, such as PKKM and student entrepreneur programs. I always follow too, there have been many of our students not only prioritizing academic achievements but also in the field of entrepreneurship,” he concluded. On that occasion, it is also hoped that the best students can take part and enter the national elimination round. “We hope to be in the top ten and win the title.
