Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) continues to make efforts to improve student competency to accelerate uptake in the world of work. Certified apprentice student programs in companies are one strategy that continues to be encouraged. “Students must be in the business world for one semester. The program is very good, “said the Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd, after discussing anticipation of an independent campus policy and learning independence from the Minister of Education and Culture, at the Faculty of Economics, Thursday (13/2/2020).
The Chancellor who once served as Dean of the Undiksha Faculty of Education explained that the apprenticeship program was also campaigned by the central government. This is very important for students to improve their skills which will lead to increased competitiveness in the world of work. “The benefits that students get, get a salary and can be recruited immediately if the work is good, and maybe they can be sent to school if they need to be sent to school,” he said.
A number of university students who already have a Faculty of Medicine have participated in an internship program at BUMN. This is facilitated by the Technical Implementation Unit for Student Career Development and Entrepreneurship (UPT-PKKM). Considering that the program is very important, other students are encouraged to participate. “This also needs study program support. Moreover, the government is also encouraging. It’s already linked. Already from above the policy, “said Jampel. Delivered further, launching this program, Undiksha is also seeking to expand cooperation with companies, including in curriculum development. “Higher education cannot be separated from users. So we have to work together,” he said. (hms)
