Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) encourages students to take part in the Student Creativity Program (PKM). This was welcomed by the Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Sports and Health (BEM-FOK) by holding training, Friday (24/9/2021). This event presented speakers Suherman, S.Si.M.Sc.Ph.D., a lecturer at the Department of Chemistry, FMIPA Gadjah Mada University.
The activity that took place through this network was opened by the Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Public Relations of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd. He appreciated the efforts of BEM-FOK who took part in increasing knowledge regarding the preparation of PKM. “This shows that the PKM “virus” has entered FOK students. I appreciate it, I feel proud,” he said.
Delivered further, PKM is one of the prestigious events in the field of national student affairs. Large universities will compete fiercely for medals from various programs, ranging from research, entrepreneurship, community service, technology, and creativity. “Even though students from FOK can make programs like this. Research, for example, can be from sports. It doesn’t have to be from MIPA students. So are the others,” he said.
After the training, it is hoped that proposals will be produced that will be able to pass the National Student Science Week (Pimnas). This needs to be supported by increased knowledge and maximum assistance from lecturers. Through PKM, Undiksha is expected to win a gold medal. “Lecturers can be asked to guide. We at the university also prepare the stages. Before passing, it means that the preparation of the proposal will be sent to the center. We will provide assistance from the Undiksha internal team and also a team from the center. We will boost it later so that what we send are quality proposals,” he said.
The Deputy Chancellor from Klungkung Regency added that in accordance with the Chancellor’s policy, student success in passing the PKM event can later be converted into semester credit units (SKS). “Students no longer need to take research methods if they have passed the PKM or it could also be the Final Assignment (TA). Because this is a group report, it can later be converted into courses. This is a form of independent learning on an independent campus that has been implemented by Undiksha,” he added.
The head of the training committee, Ketut Arcana, explained that the implementation of this activity was also a series of FOK’s 15th anniversary. “This year’s FOK Anniversary is packaged differently from the previous year’s implementation. This year, several activities were made, including PKM training,” he explained. This activity, he continued, aims to provide space for students in order to develop student creativity in expressing their creative ideas in the form of scientific writing. (hms)
