Singaraja- The ability of reasoning and critical thinking is very important for students to become superior and competitive in Human Resources (HR). This is a serious concern of the Law and Citizenship Department Student Association (HMJ) of the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences, Ganesha University of Education (FHIS-Undiksha). Reasoning skills and critical thinking are formed through a constitutional debate competition whose quarter-finals take place semi-online, Friday (21/1/2022).
This competition is an annual event and is one of the programs of the HMJ Law and Citizenship. The Head of the Committee, Komang Citra Pratiwi said that this competition was to compete for the Undiksha Chancellor’s rotating trophy, with 37 teams participating from a number of universities in Indonesia.
“This competition takes the theme “Improving Constitutional Value Through Reasoning and Critical Thinking Skills of Students”. We hope that this competition will benefit all participants,” she said.
This event was opened by the Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Public Relations of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd. He who was accompanied by Deputy Dean I FHIS, Dr. I Nengah Suastika, M.Pd., and Head of the Department of Law and Citizenship, Dr. Dewa Gede Sudika Mangku, S.H., LL.M., expressed his appreciation for holding this competition because it is one of the efforts to foster a critical spirit in students. “We, as the rectorate, appreciate activities that involve universities, such as this national debate,” he said.
The number of participants in this competition tends to increase every year. According to Suastra, this is a sign that this activity is increasingly being accepted by the community and universities. “We need to appreciate this because this activity has a national level. We as leaders support this activity both morally and materially,” he said.
On this occasion, the HMJ Law and Citizenship Undiksha were specifically invited to be enthusiastic about working and achieving. He emphasized that achievement is not only important for university rankings, both at national and international levels. But it is also very important for students in order to face competition. (hms)
