Singaraja- The Student Executive Board of the Republic of Students (BEM-REMA) of the University of Education of Ganesha (Undiksha) provided support for the development of Sumberkima Village, Gerokgak District, Buleleng Regency. This village in West Buleleng was used as a fostered village. The activities carried out are no longer limited to environmental conservation but are extended to community empowerment.
The opening of this assisted village took place, Saturday (2/10/2021) in the local village. On that occasion, the Student President of the Undiksha Student Republic, Kadek Andre Karisma Dewantara said that this program was the newest program initiated by BEM-REMA in Sumberkima Village which would be held from October to December 2021. There were a number of activities that would be carried out, including education and teaching for nature school, environmental conservation, and social activities. “Previous activities that have been carried out are mangrove planting,” he explained.
Delivered further, Sumberkima Village has competitive potential, especially in the tourism sector. This village has Gili Putih, Bukit Sumberkima, and underwater beauty. This is considered necessary to continue to be developed in the hope that it will have an impact on improving village welfare. The assisted village program is expected to contribute. This student of the English Language Education Study Program added that this activity was also to provide experience for students to go directly into the community in order to help solve existing problems.
The Head of Sumberkima Village, I Nengah Wirta, expressed his appreciation for the program that was rolled out by Undiksha’s BEM-REMA. It is hoped that the implemented program touches many aspects, starting from the environment, education, and the economy. “Because in Sumberkima village, we know it is a developing village, but sometimes human resources are lacking. This needs to be prepared in order to support the development of an increasingly advanced village,” he explained. Delivered further, the village government continues to strive to improve the quality of human resources, one of which is increasing community education participation.
Meanwhile, Undiksha Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Public Relations, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd., also appreciated this program because it is relevant to the independent learning program and the independent campus. He hopes this program can provide benefits to the community and the village. “The potential of this village is extraordinary, there is tourism, a natural environment with quite extensive mangroves. Likewise, later HR here needs to be improved. Improving the community’s economy also needs to be done, “he explained.
It is hoped that the implementation of this program will take a longer time so that later it can be converted into semester credit units (SKS) of lectures. The implementation is also expected to be able to collaborate with various related parties. “Collaboration can be with parties related to the form of activity. For example, regarding increasing legal awareness, it could be with lecturers in Law. Undiksha does. Likewise with the others. I want this program to continue,” he added. (hms)
