Singaraja- Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) was given lovely gift from its students through achievements. This time is presented by two students from Faculty of Language and Art from Bali Province Language Ambassador event 2021. They were Gilang Aditya Oka Pratama from the English D3 Study Program who won the second place and Dwi Bayu Mustika from the Indonesian Language Education Study Program as the third winner.
This annual event lasts approximately one month, starting with the three stages of selection and the grand final, which will take place at Dharma Negara Alaya Denpasar 9 June 2021. Gilang said 130 participants took part in the event. Seeing the very tight competition, he tried to prepare himself as much as possible, materially, physically, and mentally. He also has to go through a number of processes, starting from the assessment of argumentative essays, presentations, debates, guided group discussions, in-depth interviews, talent performances, foreign language proficiency tests, regional language proficiency tests, and Indonesian language proficiency tests. His struggle was paid off by becoming a champion. “At first, I didn’t expect it because all the finalists are great people, and I happen to be the youngest finalist in the 2021 batch,” he said when confirmed Thursday (10/6/2021).
This achievement does not immediately make him complacent. Instead, it becomes a motivation to continue to hone skills and contribute to realizing the linguistic mission with other language ambassadors. “After participating in this event, of course I will focus first on carrying out my duties as a language ambassador, and astungkara if given the opportunity again I want to try to take part in even higher events, such as at the international level,” he said.
He further stated that his participation in this event was nothing but because he wanted to promote the spirit of literacy among the community. This is because the level of literacy, especially the younger generation, is still very low. “This prompted me to create a vision on language, literature, and literacy. By participating in this event, I want to make a real contribution with all members of the Language Ambassadors Association, as well as realize all our missions related to language, literature and literacy to the community, especially the younger generation. ,” added the second semester student.
Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Public Relations Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd., appreciates this achievement because it contributes to increasing university competitiveness and specifically in the Student Ranking Information System every year. “Although in a pandemic atmosphere, the enthusiasm of students to compete is still high and can make achievements. Of course we really appreciate this,” he said.
This achievement is expected to be followed by other achievements. Likewise, students can appear more and more in competitions. “Undiksha continues to strive to improve achievement. This needs support from students,” he added. (lpsy)
