Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) will roll out again in 2021 student employment program (SEP). This program is to provide opportunities for students to get to know the world of work in an effort to improve skills and competitiveness.
In this program, 12 students were recruited. This amount is in accordance with the needs analysis carried out by the Undiksha Human Resources (HR) section. These students receive assignments spread across the finance section, the sports section, the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) section, and the public relations section.
The Head of Undiksha’s Bureau of General Affairs and Finance, Ni Luh Wayan Yasmiati, S.H., when giving directions, Thursday (18/3/2021) explained that this program aims to provide opportunities for students to get to know the world of work which they will later be involved in when they have finished studying at tertiary institutions. “Through this, they will get experience earlier,” she explained.
Also through this program, students from various study programs are expected to be able to improve their discipline in setting priorities between studies and their preparation for the workforce. “Our hope is that student’s participation in this program will not hinder their studies. In fact, we want them to learn how to organize and manage time so that their studies can be completed more quickly,” she said.
These students will take part in the program until December 2021 with a maximum of 6 hours of work per day and the amount of the award given is in accordance with the university’s general fee standards. “Our problem is not the six hours. But more than that, students can optimally get to know the world of work,” she explained. Student participation in the program, which has only been rolling since 2020, began with a rigorous selection involving an independent team. Selection is carried out online, transparently.
One of the students, Kadek Dwi Yantini Putri, said that participating in this program was one way to gain experience in the world of work, as well as to earn extra income. “I also want to know whether the theory I get in college is the same as the practice in the world of work. From this, we can further develop knowledge,” she said. (hms)
