Singaraja- Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) achievements from the National Student Performance Gemastik event in the field of Technology, Information, and Communications) XIV 2021 was not only presented by a team from the game development division with the work of the “Calonarang game,” but also the ICT Scientific Writing division, which won second place.
The team consisted of Ida Bagus Yudha Wirawan from the Informatics Engineering Education Study Programme, Putu Andika Eka Putra from the Computer Science Study Programme, and Nyoman Dewi Ratna Iswara from the Information Systems Study Programme. Yudha Wirawan, the team leader, explained that at the event, which took place from June 1 to October 7, 2021, a work in the form of Development of Area Segmentation on Drone Agriculture based on the Deep Learning method was displayed. “We see that the current conditions in agriculture in Indonesia have started to move towards modern agriculture with the application of the use of drones to spray pesticides,” he said on Tuesday (10/12/2021).
Furthermore, the use of drones in watering is expected to facilitate the work of farmers. However, the drone currently in use still has drawbacks because it only applies a GPS system. “This research is here to overcome the weaknesses of existing drone systems by applying the concepts of image processing and deep learning,” he continued.
The student, often known as Gus Yudha, explained that it took about five months to prepare the work. The success was also due to the endless support from all leaders of the Undiksha, lecturers, as well as guidance from the supervisor, Dr. I Made Gede Sunarya, S. Kom.
He told me that at first, they didn’t expect to win the competition, considering that the participants who took part in the event came from 235 well-known universities in Indonesia, so it’s no wonder they felt happy and proud. “We feel very happy and proud because we have the opportunity to be the winner of Gemastik XIV in the ICT Scientific Writing Division,” he said. The participation of Gus Yudha and his team in the competition is, of course, to hone themselves and gain experience so that they can be motivated again to take part in other similar events. It is hoped that what he has done can motivate and inspire other Undiksha students not to be afraid to take part in competitions in order to develop the potential that exists within themselves and, at the same time, make Undiksha proud.
Rector of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., expressed his tremendous appreciation for this achievement. According to him, it is an honor to be able to contribute to increasing the competitiveness of universities, both nationally and internationally. “This is an extraordinary achievement. Hopefully in the future Undiksha will become more successful,” he said at the weekly flag ceremony. (lpsy)
