Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) through the Academic Support Unit for Student Career Development and Entrepreneurship (UPA-PKKM) provides opportunities for students to develop an interest in entrepreneurship. This is also supported by the provision of financial assistance. This program was enthusiastically welcomed by students. There are hundreds of proposed business products.
The Chief Executive of PMW Undiksha, I Gusti Lanang Agung Raditya Putra, S.Pd., M.T explained the concept of the 2023 student entrepreneurship program like the national P2MW organized by the Directorate General of Learning and Student Affairs (Ditjen Belmawa) Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, namely categorized by type of business, consisting of food and beverages, creative industries, culture and tourism, trade services, manufacturing, applied technology, and information technology. “So these six categories represent study programs at Undiksha,” he explained.
There were 174 business ideas or products proposed by the Undiksha student team. However, as many as 63 products passed the administrative selection and static selection. This proposal followed the indynamic selection, Friday (7/7/2023). Through this opportunity, each team presented in full their business ideas including business opportunities and their economic impact on society in front of the judges from the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI) and the Buleleng Association of Indonesian Women Entrepreneurs (IWAPI).
Agung Putra said the evaluation of the business products was seen from innovation, creativity, and preferably using local Indonesian materials, especially Buleleng Regency.
Through this event, Undiksha also wants to find seeds to later take part in a national-level entrepreneurship event, as well as specifically to foster student interest in entrepreneurship. “This PMW program is an annual routine program from UPA PKKM in collaboration with business incubators. The hope is that the seeds obtained at UPA PKKM can later be developed and continued by students’ businesses so that they can become tenants in Undiksha’s business incubator,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Head of UPA PKKM Undiksha, Nyoman Karina Wedhanti, S.Pd., M.Pd said the program being implemented was an internal Undiksha program. The best business idea will be given financial assistance to support its development. The output of this program, firstly, students have a passion for entrepreneurship. Second, students are starting to dare to open a business startup.
This academic of the English Language Education Study Program also assessed that the enthusiasm of Undiksha students for entrepreneurship was increasing, especially with exposure from social media which featured many successful people in business. This can be used as a role model for students in the future. “So later on some of the leading student start-up businesses will be included in national competitions from the Directorate General of Belmawa, such as P2MW,” she explained.
The business ideas or products proposed by Undiksha students in this program are considered very extraordinary, namely not only offering quality products but also attractive packaging. (hms)
