Singaraja- Learning for students does not only take place at school and is taught by teachers. However, it also continues in the family, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, which requires learning to be carried out online. This reality is experienced by students with disabilities at Sekolah Luar Biasa (SLB) Negeri 1 Jembrana. With these conditions, parents must play a direct role in providing education. However, the problem is the need for more confidence in accompanying children.
The problem became a concern of Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) students. The PKM PM team of Undiksha chaired by Ni Kadek Gina Puspita Sari from the Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program, consisting of Ni Luh Sri Wida Wati, Pande Kadek Okta Widiyanthi, Luh Dian Ananta Udianti, and Anak Agung Ayu Kaulika Dewanti, accompanied by lecturer Dr. I Ketut Iwan Swadesi, S.Pd., M.Or. took steps to carry out community service. The program is Scaffolding Parental Self-Efficacy as an Educational Video-Based Support System for Parents of Tunagrahita Children of SLBN 1 Jembrana.
Team Leader Gina Puspita Sari said the Scaffolding activity aimed to provide support to parents with low self-confidence. This program was held four times in August. After showing educational videos, a discussion session was held so parents could exchange ideas and experiences when caring for their children.
This activity received high enthusiasm and positive responses from parents of students with disabilities, one of whom was Maria Puspita. She said this program provides new insights and helps parents educate their children.
The head of SLBN 1 Jembrana, Komang Sri Mariati, S.Pd., M.Pd., also supports the activity implementation. She saw that there was an impact of changes from parents on their confidence and enthusiasm in educating their children.
This activity is not only carried out during a pandemic. Parental Self-Efficacy is dynamic. This means that it must be honed on an ongoing basis. This is why educational video-based activities are implemented so parents can watch repeatedly. (rls/hms)
