Singaraja- The Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) Badminton Student Activity Unit (UKM) held a Refereeing Training webinar, Monday (2/11/2020). This event presented two speakers, namely the Head of Refereeing Tournaments and PB PBSI Referees, Eddyanto Sabarudin, and a national player, Ni Ketut Mahadewi Istarani.
The head of the committee, Komang Ardi Leo Suardipa explained that this activity was designed for new Undiksha Badminton UKM students and the general public to increase their knowledge of the field of refereeing and can motivate them to become national referees in the normal era later. This is in line with the theme carried out “Opportunities and Challenges to Become a National Referee in the New Normal Era”. The participants in this activity were 562 people from Undiksha students and several students outside Undiksha, such as Padang State University, Tanjungpura University, PGRI Adibuana University, UNIPA Surabaya, PBSI Buleleng, and others. “Through this webinar, the participants are expected to be able to understand concepts in the field of refereeing and apply them in the new normal era,” he said.
Undiksha Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs, Alumni and Public Relations, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd., appreciated the activities organized by the student organizations assisted by Dr. Luh Putu Tuti Ariani, M.Fis and Dr. Ketut Agustini, S.Si, M.Si. “Of course, we from the leadership give our appreciation because the Undiksha Badminton UKM can hold a refereeing training webinar which has never been done before,” he said.
Delivered further, the implementation of this national-scale activity is one of the supports for the Student Ranking Information System (SIMKATMAWA). “Every UKM can hold periodic national activities. That is one of the points that can boost the Chancellor’s work contract with the Ministry and SIMKATMAWA. We hope that through this webinar, Undiksha students can become referees in matches, at least on a regional scale, “he explained.
Aside from being the activity organizer, the Deputy Chancellor from Klungkung Regency also encourages students to be active in participating in national and international seminars, especially as presenters or resource persons. In addition, Undiksha emphasized that it is ready to support the holding of national-scale student events. “Including when badminton holds a national event, we are also supported,” he concluded. (hms)
