Denpasar – The Regional Arts Student Activity Unit (UKM-Kesda) Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) had the opportunity to perform in the Bali Arts Festival (PKB) XLIII (43). This time, the PKB is held in a different format, as it will be witnessed virtually. Meanwhile, the recording was carried out on the Ardha Candra Open Stage, Art Center Building, Denpasar, Thursday night (5/27/2021).
In a virtual performance that will be broadcasted on July 12, 2021, the UKM Kesda Undiksha will present Gong Kebyar “Tabuh Kutus Ler Bukit,” the Creative Dance in line with “Mancer Ing Jagat” and the Kekebyaran Creative Dance “Nirlaya.” Kutus Ler Bukit percussion, which means percussion from the north of the hill, is the area of Buleleng Regency (Den Bukit). This percussion is intended to revive the distinctiveness of Buleleng culture, which is characterized by creating a natural atmosphere of culture, lifestyle, dialect, kebyar art, and culinary specialties.
This percussion is arranged according to the patterns and patterns of classical pagongan percussion by elaborating the kekebyaran art that appears in every part of the composition so that it looks new and enriches the treasures of Balinese slow percussion.
The dance created by the “Mancer Ing Jagat” line was inspired by the Baris Dapdap dance in Pedawa Village, Buleleng Regency. The essence of this dance is to give a sparkling light of holiness in cleansing the bhuana agung and bhuana alit in the process towards world balance, harmony and prosperity with the concept of wana kerti.
Creative Dance “Nirlaya” means free and strong. This dance is taken from the story of Dewa Ayu Mas Melanting. In his decision, he made liberation from the cycles of time, aging, and death and attained moksha at Pemuteran Hill, which is now known as Pura Melanting in Gerokgak District, Buleleng.
This performance was attended directly by the Head of the Bali Provincial Culture Service, Undiksha Rector, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Public Relations, and Alumni, Ka. AKPK Bureau and Ka. UK Bureau.
Undiksha-Rector, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., expressed his appreciation to the Governor of Bali, who has provided space for creativity during this Covid-19 Pandemic and has given confidence to the UKM Kesda Undiksha to appear. “I convey my appreciation to the governor of Bali; in this Balinese arts festival, there is an extraordinary innovation and creativity. By doing so, this PKB belongs to Bali. And thank you as Undiksha has been involved with this 2021 PKB activity,” he said on the sidelines of the activity.
Jampel also expressed his appreciation to students who have shown their quality in performances even though Undiksha is not a specialized institution in the arts. “And I am very impressed with the younger students. Even though we are not from art education, the students are able to put on performances that are heartbreaking. That’s why I suggest also going through the Head of Culture of the Province of Bali. Maybe in the future, Undiksha can be included again. And, the performances are not centered in Denpasar only, but also in the Regency,” he added.
In an effort to maintain the sustainability of artistic activities, the Rector Jampel will coordinate with the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, and UKM coaches to provide opportunities for students to be involved in activities on campus related to art performances. “UKM Kesda must be given support from Undiksha. In addition, for example, if there is a piodalan ceremony, later we will involve ngaturang father in the form of a dance performance or at the same time with the gong,” he said.
It is hoped that the regional arts UKM activities will continue, starting with the search for students’ interests and talents. The staging events that will be followed will not be limited to PKB but also others. “We hope this activity is sustainable, not only for PKB, but outside of PKB, you can also do art. With students who are active in the arts, of course, they will not be bored and can even develop their scientific potential. Moreover, I hope there will be many art events from the faculty, such as competitions and others,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, Nyoman Sugita Rupiana appreciated the struggle of Undiksha students to show their best, even though in preparation, they faced a number of obstacles. He hopes that by participating in this annual event, student’s motivation for the arts will increase. “This is an exciting thing. Students who participate in gong kebyar performances today give their best for Undiksha. Although there are some obstacles during the practice, such as colliding with the lecture time. Students are able to set the training schedule so that we can meet the target,” he said.
In addition to the arts, Undiksha also encourages students to be able to develop interests and talents in other fields and be able to participate in competitions, both national and international. The competition is expected to be able to make achievements that can increase the competitiveness of universities and students. (lpsy)
