Bangli-The Student Representative Council (DPM) of the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences, University of Education of Ganesha carried out socialization and training activities for honey bee cultivation in the Pengajaran village, Kintamani, Bangli, Saturday (6/8/2022). In this activity targeting communities on the outskirts of the forest, two speakers were present, namely Dr. Made Sugi Hartono, S.H., M.H., as a lecturer at the Law Study Program at the Ganesha University of Education and forest conservation activist, and I Wayan Suwena as a practitioner and entrepreneur in honey bee cultivation.
The activity was opened by Wayan Arta Head of Pengejaran Village. He appreciates this activity and hopes that the community can understand the existing rules related to forest management and utilization and that people who live around forest areas are able to get economic benefits from the forest, one of which is through honey bee cultivation,” he concluded.
Resource person Sugi Hartono delivered material regarding the Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia Number.77/MENLHK/SETJEN/KUM.1/10/2019 Concerning Utilization of Non-Timber Forest Products in Production Forests and Collection of Non-Timber Forest Products in State Forests, and Pengjaran Village Regulation Number 6 of 2020 concerning the Establishment of the Sumber Wana Forest Management Institution for the Pengjaran Village. “The forest in the village of Pengajaran is a source and support for life for the people around the village and for people outside the village. Therefore, don’t let this forest be damaged because destroying the forest means slowly killing the flora and fauna as well as the humans around it,” he said.
Meanwhile, Suwena conveyed in detail the advantages/benefits of honey beekeeping, both economic and environmental benefits. He also explained the stages that must be carried out by the community in conducting honey bee cultivation, as well as the prospects for the honey market in Bali.
This activity is a series of activities in the context of implementing the Ormawa Capacity Strengthening Program (PPK Ormawa) which was initiated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology. I Wayan Pardi, S.Pd., M.Pd., as the Supervisor, emphasized that this activity was a real action by students in helping the community to increase honey productivity, conserve forests, and increase people’s economic income through Forest Honey Bee Cultivation Based on Appropriate Technology.
In the future, through assistance provided by Undiksha students, lecturers, and support from the local government, the Head of the Pengjaran Village together with the Wana Arta Forest Management Institute plans to form a Honey Bee Cultivation Center in the Pemjaran Village. To realize this, students will implement other programs, namely the construction of 100 honey bee houses, procurement of honey squeezer machines, procurement of suits, and other supporting tools for personal hygiene. Then there is also a program for packaging honey bee products, packaging products, and marketing honey bee products through social media and the marketplace. (rls/hms)
