Singaraja– Community Service Activities (PkM) carried out by Undiksha in a series of the 28th Anniversary did not only stop at Baktiseraga Village, Buleleng. This activity continued to Pejarakan Village, Gerokgak District, Buleleng Regency, Thursday (14/1/2021). Undiksha handed over hundreds of fruit plant seeds to be developed in the village forest.
Head of the Undiksha PkM Service Center. Dr. I Wayan Mudana, M.Sc., said that PkM activities are routinely carried out by Undiksha. This program has been expressly stated in the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. He hopes that the Undiksha movement will contribute to the development of village potential which will lead to an increase in the community’s economy. This is one of the reasons for distributing aid in the form of fruit plant seeds. “We handed over assistance in the form of fruit trees. We hope that Pejarakan Village will later become ecotourism and the community’s economy will increase,” he said.
Secretary of the PkM Service Center, Luh Putu Indah Rahmawati, Ph.D., said the plant seeds handed over were mango, sapodilla, early maturing coconut, and banyan. Many of these plants are developed by the community and are compatible with the environment. “For coconuts, it can be used to support ceremonial materials. This is very necessary. We want this to develop properly so that it is beneficial for the village community,” she added.
Undiksha’s attention received appreciation from the Head of Pejarakan, I Made Astawa. He explained that currently the village community is allowed to manage a forest area of 700 hectares. This fruit plant will be developed on the land. (hms)
