Singaraja- In the first series of birthdays (HUT), the Postgraduate Management Study Program at the Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) carried out greening and social services targeting two villages.
Reforestation was carried out in the Wanagiri Village Forest, Sukasada District, Buleleng Regency on May 9, 2021. The forest is managed by a Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes). This activity involves students and also the community. The trees planted are mangosteen and guava. It is hoped that in the future it will be able to support the economy of the community and the village.
Head of BUMDes, Made Darsana said Wanagiri Village as the upstream area of Buleleng Regency has a very vital role as a water source area. For this reason, this greening activity is considered the right step in the context of environmental conservation. “As an upstream area and water source, tree planting really needs to be done,” he said.
He also sees planting fruit trees as an effort to develop the function of the village forest which is also a source of economic support for the community. Meanwhile, social assistance was distributed to Panji Village, Sukasada District, Buleleng Regency on May 7, 2021. The assistance consisted of chairs and trash cans to support the development of a tourist village.
Undiksha Postgraduate Management Study Program Coordinator, Putu Indah Rahmawati, Ph. said the implementation of this activity was a form of implementing Higher Education’s Tri Dharma for community service. In addition, it also implements the Tri Hita Karana philosophy in terms of resilience, namely establishing good relations with the environment. This philosophy is also the basis for realizing Undiksha’s vision to become a superior university in Asia in 2045. The implementation of this activity is expected to provide benefits to the community’s economy and the environmental sustainability of tourist villages.
Community service activities are a program that is carried out by the Undiksha Management Study Program on an ongoing basis every year. Activities designed not only in the form of social services but also leadership training for the younger generation with the aim of forming superior human resources. (hms)
