Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) inaugurated seven series of professors with its 31st Anniversary, Monday (15/1/2024).
The professors consist of Prof. Dr. Rai Sujanem, M.Si in Physics Education, Prof. Dr. Ni Made Sri Mertasari, M.Pd., Mathematics Education Research and Evaluation, Prof. Dr. Made Agus Dharmadi, S.Pd., M.Pd., field of Sports Education, Prof. Dr. I Made Tegeh, S.Pd., M.Pd., field of Learning Technology, Prof. Dr. Ni Komang Arie Suwastini, S.Pd., M.Hum., English Literature, Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Nyoman Sudria, M.Sc, in the field of Chemistry Education/Teaching, and Prof. Dr. I Gusti Lanang Wiratma, M.Sc., field of Chemical Education Studies. The professor’s decision letter from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology was received by these academics in 2023.
Undiksha Chancellor, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Lasmawan, M.Pd said that the inauguration of seven professors this time was clear evidence of Undiksha’s commitment to creating and supporting sustainable academic excellence, as part of the priority of transformation and acceleration of development achievements in the field of education.
It was further stated that there were two highest points on a lecturer’s long journey. First, in the field of education, namely by achieving the highest level of education, namely a doctorate degree. Second, in the field of rank, by achieving the highest academic position, namely professor. “The seven academics who were inaugurated today as Professors and delivered their speeches have achieved both culminating points in their academic careers. “This means they have been tested in all areas of their main duties,” he said.
With this inauguration, Undiksha has 84 professors in various fields. This figure is certainly getting closer to the target in 2025, the number of Undiksha professors will be 100 people. “So that in 2024-2025 we can reach at least 16 more people,” said Prof. Lasmawan.
The large number of Head Professors that Undiksha has has a very promising potential for adding quite a large number of professors. He emphasized that achieving a professorship is not only a personal achievement as an academic but also a significant achievement for Undiksha in the academic constellation of higher education development. “The increase in the number of professors has strengthened the constellation of Undiksha’s human resource capacity whose knowledge has been academically proven. “This will of course make Undiksha’s existence increasingly recognized by society and the world,” he said.
He hopes that after the inauguration, these professors can increase Undiksha’s achievements. “Of course, with the increase in the number of professors, Undiksha’s commitment to contributing to the world of national education is not a joke, but we really do it, we plan it, and we even give it a priority because, with the increase in the number of professors, this is proof that there are more education experts and other knowledge outside of education possessed by Undiksha,” he continued.
The Chancellor from Bangli Regency added that in order to nominate professors, Undiksha gives priority to all academics from any faculty. Therefore, he invited academics who have met the requirements to take advantage of the opportunities that exist. “I believe all Undiksha academics are capable of doing that. FK only has one professor but there are already 2 associate professors with Doctoral degrees. Of course, the hope is that in the not-too-distant future, they will be able to achieve and obtain the title of professor. “I am optimistic that Undiksha can reach 100 professors by 2025,” he concluded.
