Singaraja- Student Regiment Student Activity Unit (UKM-Menwa) Ganesha Education University (Undiksha) is committed to opposing radicalism, hoaxes, and the Firehose of falsehood. To encourage this, a national insight seminar was also held with the Bali Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Pol. Dr. Petrus Reinhard Golose, Monday (4/3/2019). The activity which took place at the Undiksha Auditorium was attended by thousands of students from various study programs.
Menwa Commander, Gede Guntur Juliana, said that apart from this activity, increasing understanding of the dangers of radicalism was also carried out through other activities packaged in defending the country. He also hopes that Undiksha students, apart from those who are members of UKM Menwa, will have the same commitment to reject this ideology, including hoaxes that still have the potential to emerge. Because this can trigger divisions between communities. “We are committed to rejecting radicalism and anything that triggers division. This seminar is one solution to increase understanding. “We want to continue to campaign against it,” he said.
Regional Police Chief Golose emphasized that students as the millennial generation and aspiring academics must be aware of the entanglements in this case. “Students as prospective scientists must avoid things called hoaxes and firehoses of falsehood. “This also includes understanding radicalism,” he stressed.
To prevent the emergence of such cases, the sense of nationalism towards the nation and state must continue to be strengthened. This also needs to continue to be campaigned to the wider community. No less important, we must adhere closely to the 4 pillars of nationality, namely Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI), and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. “The pillars of nationality must continue to be strengthened,” he said. On this occasion, it was also announced that in the near future, there will be a General Election (Pemilu) celebration in Indonesia. It is hoped that the entire Undiksha academic community can make this a success with positive things. (hms)
