Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) continues to carry out movements to succeed in the Free Learning and Independent Campus (MBKM) policies. One that is being promoted is an internship program and independent study. This program was socialized by the Student Executive Board of the Republic of Students in collaboration with the Technical Implementation Unit for Student Career Development and Entrepreneurship (UPT-PKKM), Friday (18/6/2021).
The socialization which took place virtually presented two speakers, namely Tutus Kusuma as CEO of ECC and the Microcredential Subpokja Team of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbud-Ristek) and Nurhadi Irbath as Chair of the Internship Program and Independent Study Certified Independent Campus Ministry of Education and Culture-Ristek. The participants were not only Undiksha students but also from a number of universities in Bali.
Deputy Chairperson of the Committee, Made Ayu Wagiswari Santika, revealed that this socialization activity was one of the spaces for students to access information directly about programs that must be prepared in the midst of an independent campus policy, both concerning internships in organizations, industry, and other sectors as well as studies independent. “At this event, three companies are also partners, namely BRI, Astra International, and Agate Academy. This company will provide references to participants who take part in internship programs and independent studies,” she explained.
Student President of the Student Republic, Kadek Andre Karisma Dewantara revealed that internships and certified independent studies are actually programs that are really needed and sought after by all students, especially final-year students. However, in reality, there are still many students who do not have sufficient knowledge and are still confused about the program. “About knowledge is like how the apprenticeship is suitable. How can the apprenticeship benefit them in the future and there are still many student confusions about apprenticeships,” he explained.
This question, he continued, would be answered by a very extraordinary speaker. “So today, our extraordinary speakers will answer all of our questions and concerns as students. And it should be noted, our material fillers in this webinar are not random people, he is a member of the Ministry of Education and Culture who is indeed an expert in the field of internships and independent studies,” he said.
Andre hopes that the company’s involvement in this socialization can enrich students’ knowledge related to the mechanisms of apprenticeship programs and independent studies. “I hope that holding this activity by BEM REMA Undiksha can broaden our knowledge and references as students which will later be used as provisions to carry out internships and independent studies,” he added.
Meanwhile, Undiksha Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Public Relations, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd., appreciated this activity, especially for being able to collaborate with related stakeholders. This activity is expected to contribute to the success of the independent learning policy and the independent campus. This policy requires students to study for two semesters off campus and one study program outside the campus itself. “This policy is very good, but various problems are still being found, especially the issue of certified apprenticeships as mentioned earlier. These two resource persons will provide an explanation to all of us, both leaders and students, regarding how the program works and how to collaborate, especially with partners who are already present among us,” he said when opening the event.
On this occasion, it was also emphasized that as a student organization, BEM-REMA Undiksha was expected not only to be involved in critical areas, but also to always build good relations with God, build concern for others, and care for nature. These three things are the implementation of Tri Hita Karana. This noble philosophy is also at the same time the foundation in realizing Undiksha’s vision to become a superior university in Asia in 2045. (hms)
