Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) students are also trying to make a contribution to the world of education by connecting culture with mathematics. Or what is known as ethnomathematics. This was done for sacred buildings in Penglipuran Village, Bangli Regency through the Social Humanities Research Student Creativity Program (PKM-RSH).
This research was carried out by a team consisting of Team Leader Sahda Nabila Pramesti from the Department of Mathematics, as well as members Ni Kadek Sintya Dewi, Kadek Krisnina Maharani, Ni Made Ariyani Kumala Sari from the Department of Mathematics and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and Putu Eka Audria Maharani from the Department History of Sociology, Library, and Faculty of Law and Social Sciences. The implementation of this program was accompanied by lecturer I Putu Pasek Suryawan, S.Pd., M.Pd from the Mathematics Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.
Ethnomathematics is to recognize the existence of different ways of applying mathematics by taking into account the academic mathematical knowledge developed by different sectors of society as well as by considering the different modes in which different cultures negotiate their mathematical practices (ways of grouping, calculating, measuring, designing buildings or tools, play and others). However, there are still people who view mathematics as not related to culture, starting from the attitudes and behavior of students who do not know how to apply mathematics. Therefore, there needs to be awareness that the sacred buildings in Penglipuran Village are related to mathematics.
This research has been carried out and packaged in 4 Module editions. This module contains the connection between sacred buildings in Penglipuran Village and mathematics. Through this research, it is hoped that it can provide information to the general public that the sacred buildings in Penglipuran Village are related to mathematics. (rls)
