Students from the Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) are making significant contributions to meaningful education with their creative ideas. One such initiative is providing counseling to children with intellectual disabilities based on the Philosophy of Wayang Kamasan Painting. This program is being applied at the Anak Unik Foundation, focusing on children with intellectual disabilities (Tunagrahita). The team, led by I Gusti Ayu Anggun Anggraini, along with the members Ida Ayu Ketut Cintya Dewi, Ni Kadek Melani Sari, Ni Putu Dian Purnamita Dewi, and I Kadek Nata Prasetya Darma, is supervised by Drs. I Wayan Sujana, S.Pd., M.Pd.
This program aims to address the emotional regulation difficulties, communication challenges, and low self-confidence located in Kemenuh Village, Sukawati, Gianyar. The counseling provided seeks to help these children improve emotional control, enhance effective communication, and build their confidence.
The idea for this innovative program emerged from the challenges faced by both the children and the foundation’s committee in delivering effective counseling. The Wayang Kamasan Painting was chosen as a counseling medium because of its vibrant colors and intricate details, making it an ideal tool for art-based therapy.
The training program is divided into 3 stages: Luwak 1, Luwak 2, and Luwak 3, each focusing on character development through counseling. The approach used is a behavioral model combined with art therapy. Through this program, aimed to provide long-lasting positive impacts for both the children and the committee at the Anak Unik Foundation, enabling them to implement continuous counseling in the future.
