In an effort to encourage training that can stimulate the gross motor skills of children with physical disabilities at the Smiling Kids Foundation Bali, the Student Creativity Program for Community Service (PKM-PM) team from Undiksha has developed a modified Dengkleng Game. The team, led by Nyoman Intan Septiarini as the team leader and including members Komang Linda Mahardika, Ketut Seri Sasti Dwiyani, and Ni Putu Masayu Karisna Dewi, introduced this program to specifically target children with special needs at the foundation.
This modified Dengkleng Game goes beyond the traditional version, in cooperation with various textured surfaces such as artificial grass, soft feathers, mats, and other materials with smooth and rough textures, adding sensory stimulation. The steps of the game have also been enhanced with challenges, including word cards that prompt gross motor activities.
The program, which ran from April to August, was guided by the team’s supervisor, Dr. I Gede Astawan, S.Pd., M.Pd., and focused on 10 children at the Smiling Kids Foundation Bali who were able to participate in the game. .
To ensure the sustainability of the program, the team has prepared a partner and companion guidebook for the foundation’s leaders and staff, allowing the program to continue at the Smiling Kids Foundation.
