Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) is again accepting PKL and PPL students from a number of universities in the Philippines and Thailand. This program is part of the internationalization at-home program launched by Undiksha in 2019.
The acceptance of students for various programs took place at the General Seminar Building (GSU) Undiksha, on Tuesday (3/9/2019). Attended by Vice Chancellor I Undiksha, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.TI. He revealed that there were 43 students who took part in the PKL and PPL programs. It’s just coming gradually. This time there were 16 people. They carry out PPL at the Undiksha Lab school and PKL in hospitality and banking. This program is not only important for the student concerned. But also the receiving party. One of them is the motivation to improve English language skills. “There are those from banks who say, if there are students from abroad again, invite street vendors there (bank-ed). It can force them to learn English, he said. Through this program, students are expected to not only focus on academics. But also able to build social interaction and get to know the local culture. “We hope this program can also get to know the culture that is here,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Undiksha Office of International Affairs and Cooperation (KUIK), Dr. Ni Made Ratminingsih, M.A., explained that in the street vendors and PPL, the students were given assistance. It is hoped that his ability in accordance with the field can be increased. “Like teaching, there is orientation first, then guided and independent training,” she explained.
Apart from accepting, Undiksha also sends students abroad to take part in a similar program. Namely in the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia. This year, the number reached 98 people from various study programs. This number has continued to increase since it was initially rolled out in 2017. The number of registrants is the same. For this reason, Undiksha, which has eight faculties, is trying to expand cooperation, including for other fields, such as research and lecturer exchanges. (hms)
