Singaraja – The Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) at Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha officially started on Wednesday (9/9/2020). In this activity that was held online, all new Undiksha students had the opportunity to listen to material presentations from various sources, including Undiksha Deputy Chancellor I, Dr, Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.TI. The Deputy Chancellor for Academic and Cooperation delivered the material with the theme “Giving Out Excellent and Characterized Young Ganesh”.
Before starting the presentation of the material, Rasben emphasized that Undiksha wanted to form a Young Ganesha (Undiksha students, red) character. “We do not educate students only to have competence but also to have character interpersonal skills,” he said. Rasben started his material with the Free Learning Policy – Independent Campus which provides the right to study outside the study program or outside the university in accordance with Permendikbud Number 3 of 2020 concerning National Higher Education standards. This independent learning will give Undiksha students the opportunity to carry out student exchanges or exchange credit transfers outside the college.
This Badung-born official also said that in the learning process, there is not only a process of transferring knowledge from lecturers to students but there is a transfer process related to skills, technology, and also values or character that will be used in future life fields. “It is these values and character that bind knowledge, skills, and technology so that they are efficient and beneficial to society,” he said.
In addition, it is hoped that after graduation, these Young Ganeshas will be able to create job opportunities and create jobs for the community. Therefore, universities are required to provide courses related to entrepreneurship or entrepreneurship. So that is expected, the academic environment at Undiksha can give birth to a Young Ganesha who is superior and has a character so that he is able to compete in the world of work.
Before finishing his presentation, Rasben reminded again that for this semester all forms of lectures are still being conducted online. Meanwhile, practicum activities are still permitted to be carried out conventionally but carried out according to the health protocol to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Rasben really hopes that Undiksha students can realize an increasingly superior Undiksha. “Diversity is our wealth. Unity and oneness is our determination. Let’s give birth to a superior and characterized Young Ganesha,” he concluded. (hms)
