Singaraja- The Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) at Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) which opened on Wednesday (9/9/2020) was not only filled with academic material but also about anti-corruption with the speaker Deputy Chairperson of the KPK for the 2015-2019 term, Laode Muhammad Syarif, S.H., LL.M., Ph.D.
On this occasion he conveyed that acts of corruption can occur in various lines, starting from government agencies, educational institutions, and other agencies or institutions in society. The perpetrators of corruption are not poor people, but people who are affluent with salaries of hundreds of millions per month and get proper facilities. “Corruption is not a crime committed by the poor, because corruption is always associated with abuse of power. Highly educated people,” he explained.
Corruption is very detrimental to the state. This action is one of the triggers for the gap between the rich and the poor to get a very high education. “So be grateful to the students who are present today, we can get to college,” he said. He further conveyed that in efforts to eradicate corruption, support from various parties is needed, including students and academics. He hopes that universities, including Undiksha, can become centers of innovation and anti-corruption research, become centers of anti-corruption teaching, and form centers of anti-corruption movements starting from the department level to universities, including a pool of experts to contribute scientifically. “I think Undiksha is one of them, if I may ask to be used as a model in Bali for anti-corruption education to be held or required,” he hoped, adding that anti-corruption attitude must start from oneself and must be supported by the application of integrity values.
This PKKMB activity was attended by 2,778 prospective new students. This activity is also a medium for accelerating the process of adaptation of new students to the environment and academic life on the Ganesha University of Education campus, both adaptation in the field of programs and activities at Undiksha, the ins, and outs of tertiary institutions as scientific institutions, adaptation to leaders and the academic community and employees, adaptation to facilities and infrastructure owned by Undiksha, as well as adaptation to the curriculum and environment of Undiksha.
