Singaraja– Towards the end of 2019, students of the University of Education of Ganesha (Undiksha) continue to present sweet gifts in the form of achievements. This time it came from Bibit Santoso. This D-3 Hospitality student won second place in the National Student Intellectual Week, the National Speech Competition which took place at UPN Veteran Jakarta, 18-20 November 2019.
Santoso said that the competition was attended by 54 participants from a number of universities in Indonesia. There are even those who enter prestigious campuses. Admittedly, to get the achievement, one must compete fiercely. “The theme is “The Role of Millennials in Optimizing Sustainable Development Goals in Realizing Indonesia Mandiri 2030″. I am grateful that I won second place, above the Indonesian University of Education,” he said.
There are a number of stages that must be passed in order to reach the final. Beginning with the selection of papers, and titles, and drafting English. “From this process, I can enter the grand final, which is the top ten,” he said. He admitted that at first, he was not sure he could win the championship because he had to compete with well-known universities. However, armed with self-confidence, sweet gifts can be held and presented to Undiksha. “I proved that victory is not determined by a brand, but by individual quality. That’s where the confidence emerged to keep pushing me forward in total,” he said.
To produce the best work, Santoso admitted that he encountered many obstacles. Starting from that time, he was undergoing street vendors at a hotel in Nusa Dua, Badung, and preparing material. “I am guided by lecturers only via WA because of time constraints. Can’t meet in person. I try to manage my time well so that I can advance to make the name of my alma mater and study program a better image,” he concluded. (hms)
