Singaraja– The Student Association of the Department of Law and Citizenship at the Ganesha University of Education held a National Constitutional Debate Competition, Saturday (6/2/2021). The first event to compete for the Undiksha Chancellor’s rotating trophy was held virtually as a result of the presence of the Covid-19 pandemic. The theme that was carried out was “Constitutional Awareness for Indonesian Democracy in the New Normal Era”.
This competition was attended by 24 teams from a number of university students in Indonesia, including Udayana University, Diponegoro University, Semarang State University, Jember University, Muhammadiyah University Surabaya, Makasar State University, Labuhanbatu University, General Achamad Yani University Yogyakarta, Palangkaraya University, Sunan Ampel Surabaya State Islamic University, Pasundan STKIP, and Manado State University.
The Chairperson of the Committee, Ni Kadek Vrischika Sani Purnama hopes that this competition can build awareness and influence democratic actions even in the new normal era, especially for the younger generation. Meanwhile, Undiksha Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs, Alumni and Public Relations, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd really appreciates the holding of this event. It is hoped that it will not only provide benefits for students in increasing their knowledge but also be able to support university rankings at the national level. “In addition, in a pandemic situation, the contest participants are quite diverse. This shows that the spirit of competition is still quite large,” she said when opening the event accompanied by the Dean of the Undiksha Faculty of Law and Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Sukadi, M.Pd., M.Ed.
The opening of the competition was accompanied by a technical meeting for the final round of making a video debate which included three judges, namely I Gusti Ayu Apsari Hadi, S.H., M.H., from Undiksha, Si Ngurah Ardhya, S.H., M.H., from Undiksha and Ruslan, S.Pd ., M.Ed., from Shia Kumala University. The technical meeting process includes discussing the schedule for the competition, technical guidelines for the final round, and a question and answer session. Preliminary round through collecting papers from each team to find the 5 best team papers to advance to the final round which will be held on February 11, 2021. This competition is looking for the 3 best champions and best speaker participants as well as the Undiksha rector’s rotating trophy accompanied by coaching money and award certificates. (rls)
