Singaraja- The proud achievements made by students of the University of Education of Ganesha (Undiksha) at the Chancellor’s Cup II event at Udayana University in 2023 were not only from the cricket branch but also from the chess branch. This achievement was presented by Anak Agung Gde Agung. He won second place in the Individual Category.
This event will take place on 19 and 20 August 2023. To win the title, Agung Gde Agung must compete with 40 participants from various universities in Indonesia. Of course, his success in winning the championship is a matter of pride for him and the Undiksha Chess UKM members.
Chess UKM coach dr. I Made Kusuma Wijaya, M. Kes also expressed his appreciation for the achievements of his fostered students in the event. He hopes that through this event the students can be more motivated to make achievements in other events. “I feel proud of the achievements that have been achieved by Undiksha students in the Rectorate Cup II at Udayana University and hopefully this will be one of the motivations for students to achieve even more in subsequent events,” he said after meeting with the Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs, Undiksha Public Relations, Prof. Dr. I Ketut Sudiana, M.Kes, Thursday (31/8/2023).
He added, that currently there are around one hundred members of Undiksha Chess UKM. In the future, training will be held regularly and special preparations will also be made when participating in other championships.
Vice Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Sudiana also gave extraordinary appreciation to the Undiksha team for making the university proud at the national event. This achievement is expected to be a motivation to take part in other competitions. “We as leaders appreciate and thank the coaches and students who have performed optimally at this event. We hope this can also motivate other students to take part in the competition,” he concluded.
Apart from the individual category, in this event, Undiksha also took part in the team category. Team 1 consists of Egar Sidi Tuhujati, I Made Dodik Gunawan, and Rahila Ayodia Pinka. Team 2 consists of Putu Ranma Darmayana, Putu Mila Ayuni, and Kedek Dwi Pradarta. (hms)
