Singaraja- Achievements in the field of sports achieved by Undiksha students were not only at the Chancellor of CUP II at Udayana University for chess and cricket. Proud achievements were also made from the bridge sport in the Kemenpora Cup which took place on 25-27 August 2023 in Kuta, Badung Regency.
In this event, Undiksha fielded Ni Putu Puja Parwati Dewi and Ni Kadek Oppi Swandari for the women’s team category. This team won second place after competing with 32 teams from various universities in Indonesia and an invited team from Singapore.
This achievement was presented to the Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs, Undiksha Public Relations, Prof. Dr. I Ketut Sudiana, M. Kes, on Thursday (31/8/2023). The head of UKM Bridge Undiksha, Gede Arya Suryana Murtika Wangsa, who was also present at the meeting, said that the competition in the national event was quite tight. “Even though this event is a national level event, the Undiksha women’s team had a chance to face a team from Singapore who happened to compete there,” he explained.
He also conveyed that at the event, players from Undiksha competed with seniors from other universities, and even met several Indonesian National Team (Timnas) players. To face this annual event, careful preparations are made. “There are regular exercises, always regular,” he said.
Undiksha Bridge UKM Supervisor, Dr. Lucy Sri Musmini, S.E., M.Sc., Ak expressed her appreciation and felt very proud of the achievements achieved by her fostered UKM. “So at that time their preparation was minimal but they have succeeded in producing 2nd place,” she explained.
She hopes that in the future the Bridge Undiksha UKM can participate in tournaments at the university level, regional level, and others and can make achievements again. Reaching this target, coaching will continue to be maximized. “There are participants whose age is higher than them here. We need to prepare ourselves to achieve even better,” she said.
Vice Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Sudiana also gave extraordinary appreciation to the Undiksha team for making the university proud at the national event. This achievement is expected to be a motivation to take part in other competitions. “We as leaders appreciate and thank the coaches and students who have performed optimally at this event. We hope this can also motivate other students to take part in the competition,” he concluded. (hms)
