Denpasar- Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) got a chance to share Freedom to Learn-Independent Campus or Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program in Kampus Merdeka Festival that was held at University in Diversity Bali Campus Kura-kura Bali, Denpasar, Monday (14/11/2022). On this occasion, the Rector of Undiksha, I Nyoman Jampel was represented by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Cooperation of Undiksha, Gede Rasben Dantes.
The sharing session took place in front of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Mendikbudristek), Nadiem Anwar Makarim. Rasben Dantes shared with the Acting official of Director General of Higher Education, Research and Technology, Nizam, Director General of Vocational Education, Kiki Yuliati, and Director of Surabaya State Electronics Polytechnic, Aliridho Barakbah.
On the event that attended by hundred students, Rasben Dantes specifically delivered how Independent MBKM program run in Undiksha. Started in 2019, Undiksha has been doing curriculum reorientation to give a chance for student to get cross study program courses, both related to science data, technology, humanities, and so on. This step is an effort to increase the readiness of students and graduates in facing the era of the industrial revolution 4.0.
With the MBKM paradigm or spirit emerging in 2020 from the Ministry of Education and Culture, Undiksha has re-oriented the curriculum according to the mandate in the National Higher Education Standards and continues to maximize its implementation. Based on data for 2022, student participation in this national program has reached 31 percent. The program consists of student exchanges, independent studies, certified internships, teaching assistance, and so on.
Rasben Dantes said that, as emphasized by Mendikbudristek, the MBKM activity is to provide multi-competencies to students in addition to their main competencies so that later they can be better prepared to enter the work or the industry. “With the MBKM activity, it is hoped that before they leave university, they will already know what the work environment is like, what problems they are facing” he explained.
Undiksha is always committed to continuously implementing MBKM better in the future. The implementation is always expected to be supported by relevant stakeholders. (hms)
