Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) is holding an Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) in 2021. The opening of activities through this network took place, Friday (13/8/2021). The number of participants reached 3,313 people, consisting of Diploma III and Bachelor programs. These new students from various regions in Indonesia are expected to become a generation that is Independent, Adaptive, Honest, and Superior (MAJU).
This annual activity was opened by the Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd via virtual and continued with the planting of kayonan by Undiksha Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Alumni and Public Relations, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd who took place on the Undiksha auditorium stage.
In his remarks, the Chancellor of Jampel conveyed Undiksha’s proud achievements in 2020-2021, one of which is an achievement. In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, quite a number of achievements have been made by students, consisting of national and regional levels. In addition, in the student performance ranking system, Undiksha is ranked 23rd nationally. This achievement has jumped far from 2019 which was in the 36th position. Based on the Scimago Institutions Rankings in 2021, Undiksha is also ranked 11th in Indonesia.
Behind this achievement, continued the Chancellor from Nusa Dua, Badung Regency still has many challenges that will be faced in the future. New students who are part of the Undiksha academic community are asked to work together to make the name of the institution proud. “I always encourage students to participate in exploring and showing their potential to achieve the highest achievements both in the academic and non-academic fields, both at the national and international levels. I have very high hopes for Undiksha Young Ganeshas to always synergize and collaborate in making Undiksha proud on the national and international level,” he said.
Delivered further, entering the era of the industrial revolution 4.0, changes in the situation took place quickly. This must be able to be addressed and faced by students by prioritizing critical thinking, creative thinking, collaboration, and communication. It is no less important to be a generation that is independent, adaptive, honest, and superior. “These are some of the things that I want Undiksha students to have. Students who can compete,” he said.
The government through the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemdikbudristek) has rolled out the Free Learning and Independent Campus policies. There are a number of programs that are part of it, such as internships, lectures outside the study program, and so on. The Chancellor of Jampel also asked Undiksha students, including new students, to participate in success in order to improve their quality and competence. This was also emphasized by the Minister of Education and Culture, Nadim Makarim through a video showing for new students in Indonesia.
In order to increase the knowledge and insights of new students, this PKKMB is filled with various materials. On the first day, including about independent learning and an independent campus with speakers from the Director of Learning and Student Affairs, Director General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture, Prof. Aris Juanidi, Ph.D., introductory material on values, ethics, manners, and campus life norms by the Deputy Chancellor for Planning, Administration, Finance, and Human Resources of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Lasmawan, a material success story from Undiksha alumni who also serves as Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Dra. Ni Wayan Giri Adnyani, M.Sc., CHE., material about the pillars of nationality with speakers from the Director of Intelligence for the Bali Police, Kombes Pol Zainal Abidin, material about understanding rights and obligations in efforts to defend the country with speakers from Kodam IX/Udayana, Colonel Inf. Made Suharsana, and material for the Development of the Mental Revolution Movement presented by the national motivator, Dr. Aqua Dwipayana.
Meanwhile, on the second day, August 14, there was material on environmental awareness and a healthy campus with Undiksha academic speakers, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Wijana, M.Si, material on risk management, preparedness and disaster mitigation with speakers from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of the Province of Bali, materials for PKM training with speakers from the Bandung Institute of Technology, Prof. Sundani Nurono Suwandhi, and drug language prevention materials with sources from the Head of BNN Buleleng Regency, AKBP Gede Astawa. In addition, the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Alumni and Public Relations, Prof. Dr. I wayan Suastra, M.Pd with Undiksha Student Activity Policy material, leadership training materials and soft skill with Undiksha academic sources, Dr. Ketut Sudiana, M.
