Fellow Undiksha, most of you surely heard of instant noodles. This food has become many people’s favorite choice. It could be enjoyed just as it is, but we can also creatively adjust it so it tastes even better. In Indonesia, instant noodles have become a popular food and are loved by the public. Starting from children, teenagers, up to adults, almost everyone cannot resist the delicacy of instant noodles.
Besides boiling and mixing seasonings, instant noodles can be modified creatively in unique ways. Of all kinds of instant noodles, Pelor Instant noodles (Mie Pelor) could be one of your choices. This noodle is made of tempeh flour and moringa leaf extract. Both are natural ingredients and very healthy.
These green noodles are an innovation from academics of Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha), Singaraja, Dra. Damiati M.Kes., with Putu Indah Rahmawati, Ph.D. Based on laboratory results, Mie Pelor has high antioxidants and protein; it is also rich in nutrients that are excellent for increasing immunity and many other benefits.
The rich nutrients contained in Mie Pelor may be combined as a healthy processed food that is believed to prevent stunting. The production of this noodle was initially carried out on a private scale. As this product has the opportunity to compete in the market in 2021, this product was then submitted to pre-startup and received funding from National Innovation Research Agency (BRIN). In addition to that, this year, a marketing launch was also carried out.
Now, the production of Mie Pelor is in collaboration with the business sectors in Singaraja, managed by Sri Purwaningsih. The existence of this innovative product adds to a variety of its business products. The marketing has been done in the form of dry noodles and wet noodles. There is also a ready-to-serve version with several versions, namely meatball noodles, chicken noodles, soup, curry, and fried noodles, all of which you may choose according to your taste.
Dr. Ni Made Ary Widiastini, SST.Par., M.Par., Undiksha Business Incubator chairman, greatly assisted the marketing. Through the assistance provided, the product is expected to become the choice of instant noodles lovers. In order to expand the market, innovation in the development of the product is encouraged, such as the production of dry noodles.
Apart from Mie Pelor, several innovations were also made by Undiksha academics, such as games using a foreign language to accommodate local culture, Ganesha Smart Pure, which is a tool to process laundry wastewater, and there is also Bali Aga fashion that utilizes the gebang fiber elements which is modified and added with various skins with weaving (lpsy)
