Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) continues to strive to improve the quality of institutional governance. One of the strategies rolled out is in the form of strengthening leadership and agile management. This was realized through a workshop, Wednesday (26/2/2020).
The workshop which took place in the Rectorate’s Ganesha III Room presented speakers Prof. Ir. Joni Hermana, M.Sc. ES., Ph.D. as Main Commission of PT. ITS Techno Science and Amin Leiman as Consultant Agile Management (USA). The participants were not only Undiksha lecturers but also from the Regional Government of Buleleng Regency. In particular, Joni Hermana emphasized that in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0, leadership is very important for lecturers and university leaders. This is shown by an adaptive, strategic, and inspiring attitude. In addition, they must be able to innovate and be entrepreneurs. “The challenge of a leader today is still ambiguous. Sometimes in the present condition what is wrong becomes right, and what is right becomes wrong. The conditions are uncertain and increasingly complex. Therefore, we must be good at adapting so that we can survive,” he explained.
He also conveyed, currently, universities are already in the third generation. Generations have led to stakeholders that must be served. “So accountability is not only on the Ministry, but also on the public which is increasingly critical,” he added. Through this workshop, it is hoped that Undiksha can improve its performance. “The point is we want things related to leadership to be applied here so that we can improve Undiksha’s performance even higher,” he said.
Meanwhile, the guest speaker Amin Leiman conveyed that material related to agile management is very much needed in higher education governance. This is shown by providing maximum service by lecturers to students and others. “This is important at university,” he said.
The presence of these two speakers received appreciation from Undiksha Vice Chancellor I, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.TI. “We are very pleased with the presence of this resource person. Because we know it is very difficult to find the time,” he said. The material presented is considered very good for supporting university development, especially in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0. “Regarding tertiary institutions, now there are many regulatory changes that have occurred, there are independent campuses, independent learning. I think there are still some policies that will emerge. I hope that through this, the quality of Undiksha can get better,” he said.
Apart from workshops, Undiksha also received sharing related to business management from PT. ITS Techno Science. In addition, there was also a guest lecture on the topic of research management, innovation, and commercialization, presenting Prof. Dr. Ketut Buda Artana, ITS lecturer. This is expected to improve the academic climate of Undiksha lecturers. (hms)
