Singaraja- Student organizations have a very important role to participate in realizing the ideals of an institution, both short and long-term. There needs to be an organizational regeneration step as a chain link and make an organization maintain its existence. Likewise with the Student Republican Student Consultative Council and the Student Republic Student Executive Board (BEM-REMA) at Ganesha University of Education for the 2021/2022 Service Period. The management of this student organization was appointed by Undiksha Chancellor Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., at the Undiksha Auditorium Building, Friday (21/5/2021). The event was witnessed by the Vice Chancellor, Dean, Deputy Dean, and Head of Bureau.
Based on the Decree, the Chairperson of the Student Consultative Assembly is Wahyu Falsafa Restavara. Meanwhile, the President of the Student Republic for the 2021/2022 period is held by Kadek Andre Karisma Dewantara. Both of them also signed the Handover Letter of Position with the previous period’s officials.
In his remarks, the Chancellor of Jampel asked this student organization to contribute to elevating the degree of the campus to an increasingly superior university, including accelerating Undiksha’s vision of becoming a superior university based on the philosophy of Tri Hita Karana in Asia in 2045. Steps are taken through the implementation of quality programs, creative or innovative. “I, as the head of the university, hope that MPM and BEM Rema as deliberative boards and student executive bodies can carry out their roles properly, control each other, and be able to work together with other student organizations. It can help elevate the degree of the university, “he said.
Delivered further, many Undiksha students have achieved, both nationally and internationally. This achievement is the pride of the academic community. Undiksha as one of the superior accredited tertiary institutions continues to strive to increase the number of achievements so that it becomes an increasingly competitive tertiary institution. In this case, BEM-REMA and MPM are considered to have a very vital role to participate in encouraging and motivating all students to compete in competitions both at the national and international levels. So that the activities designed are directed at improving student performance. This activity is also expected to become an icon or hallmark of Undiksha.
Student organizations are a place for learning to develop soft skills, such as the ability to communicate, learn to express opinions properly and politely, collaborate to build teamwork, respect others, think critically, creatively, and so on. “There is much more that can be learned in student organizations. There are many things that you will get from being in an organization, and you might not get it in a lecture hall,” concluded the Chancellor from Nusa Nua, Badung Regency.
Meanwhile, the Student President of the Student Republic, Andre Karisma said he was ready to collaborate to elevate the university’s degree. Its role as an executive body is to compile work programs that can provide benefits, especially for students who are one of the biggest instruments for the university’s image. One of the planned work programs is Gelora Esai, which will start running at the end of 2021. The program will involve several universities in Indonesia. “In general, our entire work program is of course for the advancement of our university. However, programs that I really believe can elevate this campus are programs related to Simkatmawa, one of which is Gelora Esai which we will hold between October and November 2021. We will involve several universities in Indonesia to participate in this activity. The implementation will adjust to the situation and conditions, whether it will be carried out online or offline,” he said. (dyh/hms)
