Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education is preparing a proposal to increase the status of the D-3 program to D-4. This began with assistance in the preparation of the proposed instruments by presenting speakers, Prof. Dr. Ir. Era Purwanto, M.Eng., Thursday (25/2/2021). This online activity invited the Dean, Head of Department, and related Study Program.
Undiksha Deputy Chancellor for Academic and Cooperation Affairs, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I., when opening the event, said that the increase in status or level was an effort to increase graduate competence, both in theoretical and practical fields. “Because I think the D-4 level will provide competence that exceeds what we are currently doing or holding, namely D-3,” he said.
Undiksha has eleven D-3 study programs, namely English, Visual Communication Design (DKV), electronics engineering, informatics management, marine cultivation, chemical analysis, library, surveying and mapping, accounting, hospitality, and midwifery. However, explained Rasben, there were ten study programs that were proposed to increase their status. “Except for D-3 Midwifery, based on the discussions we had, then based on directions from the association in charge of this study program, we brought D-3 Midwifery into midwifery academic education and midwifery professional education. Likewise, at this time we are proposing academic education in nursing and the nursing profession,” he said.
This academic who served as Deputy Dean at the Faculty of Engineering and Vocational Studies said that the status upgrade needs to be complemented by strengthening various aspects, such as curriculum, lecturer data, and study program management units. This needs to be supported by team performance. “I think this team has been formed by the faculty,” he said. He also hopes that this status improvement can be realized soon. Of course, this needs to be supported with maximum effort from study programs and other related parties. “Hopefully all the efforts, all the hard work done by friends in each faculty, can produce better results,” he concluded.
