Singaraja- Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) becomes the champion in a competition as a series of Archipelago Workshops VIII Indonesian Regional Language and Literature Student Associations (IMBASADI) 2021 with Batak Literature Study Programme Student, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, the University of North Sumatra as the organizer. The champion earned as a student delegation from the Balinese Language Education Study Programme, Department of Language, Indonesian and Regional Literature, Faculty of Language and Arts succeeded in making winners in seven competitions.
The achievement was in the form of first place in the scientific poster competition with the delegation of Luh Putu Juni Ari Setia Dewi. First place in the cultural documentary video competition with delegates Made Danuarta, Putu Ayu Evanti Andriani, Ni Putu Nevi Cahyana Dewi, Ketut Yudi Dharma Saputra, Putu Dani Arya Saputra, Luh Putu Juni Ari Setia Dewi, Putu Putri Maharani, Ni Ketut Ayu Nita Trisnayanti, Ida Bagus Mas Abdi Putra, Putu Suwidnyana, and Ni Wayan Dewinta Tirta Sintyawati. This team also won first place in the Indonesian drama competition.
First place in the scientific writing competition with the delegation of Ida Bagus Mas Abdi Putra. In addition, there was also the first place winner in the IMBASADI Men’s and Women’s Talent Champion in 2021 with the delegations of Ketut Yudi Darma Saputra and Ni Ketut Ayu Nita Trisnayanti. IMBASADI Women’s Champion in 2021 with the delegation of Ni Ketut Ayu Nita Trisnayanti. There was also the winner of the IMBASADI men’s video oration with the delegation of Ketut Yudi Darma Saputra. Second place in the Nusantara Dance Competition with the delegation of Putu Ayu Evanti Andriani, Ni Putu Nevi Cahyana Dewi, and Putu Putri Maharani. The last achievement was achieved through a poetry musicalization competition. The delegation consisting of Made Danuarta, Ketut Yudi Darma Saputra, Putu Dani Arya Saputra, Ni Luh Putu Juni Ari Setia Dewi, Ni Wayan Dewinta Tirta Sintyawati, and Gede Agus Suyasa won third runner up place.
The delegate, Ida Bagus Mas Abdi Putra, explained that this competition was held online. The delegates submitted their works and were then judged by the judges. Especially for himself and other delegates, it took about two months to prepare the best work. This work was finally able to make a proud achievement announced on June 6, 2021. “Of course, this achievement makes us happy. Undiksha is able to become the overall champion,” he said Monday (6/7/2021).
His participation in this year’s event has increased his belief that the regional language as a part of the culture will never fade, even though the view of most people is only as an ordinary local content. “But based on this event, we have learned a lot of lessons. One of them is that culture can compete in any field,” he said. This fourth-semester student hopes this event can raise awareness of the younger generation and be responsible for maintaining culture, especially regional languages.
Head of the Department of Language, Indonesian and Regional Literature, Dr. I Wayan Artika, S.Pd., M.Hum., also admitted that he was very proud of this achievement and hoped he would survive the next event. “Of course, this is a great achievement. We in the department really appreciate it,” he said. The improvement of achievements continues to be pursued, including in other events. The strategy is that the department will map the student’s potential so that the opportunity to become a champion is greater. “The department also continues to optimize communication and explain the importance of competition in order to increase the prestige of the institution. Then make use of student organizations and the role of supervisors that are increasingly maximal,” he explained.
Academics also active in literacy activities emphasized that student participation in competitions is very important. The event can be used as a medium for testing abilities or talents, in addition to gaining experience. “From the trial, then a was developed and realized together. So our effort is to raise the spirit to excel, to test ourselves in the arena of national and international competitions is one of the important things. Therefore, the department always encourages students to be proactive in participating in competitions,” he said.
Vice-Rector Prof. Suastra appreciates this achievement. “This is an honor because, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, Undiksha students are still enthusiastic to excel,” he said. He further stated that this achievement is important to increase not only the competitiveness of students but also of universities, both nationally and internationally. “Clustering of universities cannot be separated from students’ achievements. Of course, we appreciate this achievement,” he said.
Undiksha is very focused on improving student achievement. Participation in the competition is strictly selected. This is always expected to be supported by the entire academic community. “Guidance and mentoring continue to be maximized. That is Undiksha’s effort to continue to improve its achievements,” he said. (lpsy)
