Singaraja– The Student Consultative Council (MPM) of the University of Education of Ganesha (Undiksha) held a legislative class, Wednesday (27/11/2019). The activity, which presented a guest speaker, Gede Pasek Suardika, is one of the efforts to increase students’ understanding of the field of law.
The Chairperson of MPM Undiksha, Komang Dhira Pannavira said that currently there are quite a lot of regulations related to student organizations in Undiksha. However, according to his observations when carrying out the supervisory function, there are still those who are not literate about it. From this, it is deemed necessary to increase understanding. “This legislative class is one of the ways we do it. We want to share what real legislation is because we want to make students open their eyes to the regulations in Undiksha,” he said. This activity was not only attended by Undiksha students but also by a number of other universities in Bali that have law study programs. “We hope that with this, there will be no more misinterpretation of laws and regulations,” he said.
Vice Chancellor III Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd., appreciated the implementation of this activity because it became a medium for developing competence and soft skills. Moreover, the speakers presented were highly competent in the field of legislation and had extensive experience in the legal field. “This activity, by presenting competent speakers, will get a lot of practice, especially with regard to legal literacy which is very important for society,” he said.
A good understanding of the law, especially for students, is also seen as a strategy to avoid turmoil in society due to the emergence of issues, especially those that lead to negative things. “For example, if an issue arises, but we don’t know about the law, then it can cause turmoil. This legislation class provides experience, how is the legal production process. This is very important,” he concluded. (hms)
