Singaraja- Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) continues to be committed to supporting the government in breaking the chain of the spread of Covid-19, especially in Buleleng Regency. This commitment is demonstrated by preparing a block of dormitories on the Jinengdalem Campus as a place for self-isolation. This was conveyed by the Chancellor of Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd, Tuesday (13/7/2021).
He explained that Undiksha’s contribution could not be separated from the increase in Covid-19 cases in Buleleng Regency which caused the isolation rooms in a number of hospitals to be almost full. Apart from that, there is also hope from the Regent of Buleleng that other parties will also contribute to providing a place for self-isolation that is proper, comfortable, and healthy. “Therefore, we also have a dormitory that is not yet fully occupied by students, we donate, or provide, or allow a block of dormitories for the treatment of people exposed to Covid-19. That’s the place in Jinengdalem,” he explained.
The third-floor dormitory was previously supervised by the Buleleng Regency Covid-19 Handling Task Force Team. The dormitory has a capacity of 80 people and is equipped with adequate facilities. The use of this continued by the Chancellor of Jampel, was also balanced with strict supervision by the Task Force to anticipate the spread of Covid-19 to other residents. “This was well managed by the Task Force. It has been mapped out, arranging how people who go in and out there must be sterile. It is also guarded 24 hours.
Furthermore, the Chancellor from Nusa Dua, Badung Regency said that as a tertiary institution that has a Faculty of Medicine, Undiksha has also formed a team of vaccinators who are helping the government in carrying out Covid-19 vaccinations for residents in Buleleng Regency. “This is the support we provide, how to handle Covid-19 optimally,” he said.
The Chancellor, who is also the Deputy Head of the Buleleng Regency Covid-19 Handling Task Force, also invited the public to remain disciplined in implementing health protocols. “We as higher education institutions hope that the community will always maintain health for themselves and others,” he concluded.
