The fairy tale competition was held by the Department of Student Association (HMJ) D3 Library of the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences (FHIS) Ganesha Education University (Undiksha), Friday (9/11/2018). The event, which took place in the local faculty seminar room, was attended by 20 elementary school students in grades IV and V in Singaraja City, Buleleng Regency.
Chair of the Committee, Adiviga Widianti Putri, explained that this activity was not only a forum for developing student talents. More important than that, it is also a way to foster a culture of literacy which is currently still relatively low. “With this competition, literacy culture can grow,” he explained.
It was also conveyed that through this competition, fairy tales that are inherited from ancestors, full of values that can be used as a reflection of life, can continue to exist in the era of globalization. “We also hope that storytelling can become a culture. This is a legacy from our ancestors. So it needs to be maintained,” he added.
Chairman of HMJ D3 Libraries, I Gede Agus Cinta Windrawan said that this program is only in its second year. In the future, we are targeting more participants and targeting the district level. “Now I’m still from elementary school in Singaraja City. In the future, we plan to do it at the district level. “We continue to innovate,” he said. (hms)
