Singaraja- Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) encourages students to be able to innovate and be creative in the midst of the digital era. This action is very important to increase competitiveness and support the progress of the nation and state, as was revealed in the opening ceremony of the National Seminar held by the Informatics Engineering Student Association of the Faculty of Engineering and Vocational, Monday (31/10/2022).
The seminar was a part of the Informatics Engineering Students Department Association anniversary titled Technology Grand Celebration (INTEGER) #4 with the theme “The Roll of Technology for Advance Indonesia.” The minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahudin Uno, MBA, delivered a speech online, and the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Cooperation of Undiksha, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., MTI., opened the event.
On this occasion, Minister Sandiaga Uno conveyed the potential for Indonesia’s digital economy to grow by nearly 50 percent yearly. In 2025 the value of the digital economy is predicted to reach 150 billion dollars, which will be dominated by e-commers transactions. In this case, he also encourages students to contribute through the development of the creative economy and specifically in the form of start-ups.
He further conveyed that the development of the creative economy can be adjusted to regional potential, one of which is the tourism sector which is now quite developed in Buleleng Regency, such as the Sudaji Tourism Village, Pemuteran Tourism Village, and others. He hopes Undiksha can utilize this opportunity by preparing reliable talents. He also emphasized that the development of the creative economy needs to be supported by the ability to innovate, adapt and collaborate.
Vice Rector of Undiksha, Rasben Dantes, said that the speech delivered by Minister Sandiaga Uno was very inspiring and motivating. He emphasized that Undiksha, as an academic institution, is committed to always being able to contribute to the progress of the region, the progress of the nation, and the country. Apart from that, it also encourages the Informatics Engineering Students Department Association to be able to utilize technology for Indonesia’s future progress. “Currently we are in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0, as Mr. Sandiaga Uno said that this is the digital era. The era of young people to be able to innovate, be creative. So he motivated young people in the future to become a contributor to the progress of this nation and country through startups and businesses that can be run,” he said.
The Faculty of Engineering and Vocational, especially the Department of Informatics Engineering, has taken steps to produce graduates who are competitive and superior. Apart from that, the Faculty of Engineering and Vocational has also contributed a lot to Undiksha’s achievements in Key Performance Indicators, student performance, webometrics, and others. In the future, it is hoped that the faculties and departments within Undiksha will continue to take steps to improve quality. Apart from that, it is also getting the maximum to implement the Freedom to Learn-Independent Campus or Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program, which is one of the superior programs of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. “I convey that faculty of engineering and vocational Undiksha really contributes to MBKM. Hopefully this will be maintained properly and continue to be improved, both in quantity and quality, “he added.
Dean of Faculty of Engineering and Vocational Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Gede Sudirtha, S.Pd., M.Pd., stated that his faculty had supported the creative economy’s development. One of them is in the Munti Mount area, Karangasem Regency, which is seeking to continue to grow. “Hopefully, this year, it can be developed, including in Sudaji Village, and we can contribute by applying technology and knowledge.
The Faculty of Engineering and Vocational Undiksha will continue to expand cooperation, both within Indonesia and abroad.
