Singaraja- The revised 2016 curriculum at Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha), which has been rolling out for several months, has entered finalization, on Tuesday (18/6/2019). Chair of the Undiksha Learning Development and Quality Assurance Institute (LPPPM), Prof. Dr. AAIN. Marhaeni, M.A. explained that the new curriculum is more flexible and contains strategies for responding to global challenges. “We finally developed the 2016 curriculum which was based on KKNI-oriented competencies. Now we are revising it again because of very rapid changes in world life and society. Our curriculum remains competency-based, KKNI oriented. “But it is more about responding to the challenges of the Industrial Revolution 4.0, globalization, and so on,” she said.
Meanwhile, regarding flexibility, it was explained that students were given space to take courses outside the main study program. For example, students of the English Language Education Study Program, to be able to excel in the future, need to master technology. Related courses can be taken at the Information and Computer Science Study Program, Engineering and Vocational Faculty. Likewise, if you want to know about history, you can take this course in the History Study Program, Faculty of Law and Social Sciences. “This is provided by SKS. This is a new advancement at Undiksha. “The development of their competencies can be dynamic according to needs,” she said.
It was further stated that Tri Hita Karana also continues to be campaigned by Undiksha. In fact, this concept is the basis for realizing the vision of being a superior university in Asia in 2045. “This concept is also included as a course. “We want to bring graduates to have an attitude based on the Tri Hita Karana philosophy,” emphasized Marhaeni.
The curriculum that will be implemented starting in the 2019/2020 academic year also includes efficiency in terms of lecture implementation. Subjects that are the same between study programs, such as personality development, will be made into separate classes. “A special class will be created with a capacity of around 35 people per class. “Students from various study programs will join there,” she explained. Another progress made through this curriculum is also in English language learning. Each study program gets a minimum of six credits or three semesters. “Outside of the English Education Study Program, previously we only had two semesters of English courses. “We hope that in early July the new curriculum will be approved,” she added. This revision has been rolling out since last February. In order to get the best results, dozens of discussions have been carried out. They even received input from a number of experts outside Undiksha. (hms)
