Singaraja- The Undiksha Faculty of Engineering and Vocational Education Study Program (PKK) is increasingly showing its class as one of the Study Programs to be reckoned with. Trying to get rid of the image of being a PKK teacher-printing study program, a Fashion Show and Makeup Design Competition were held, at the Undiksha Auditorium Building, Thursday (05/10/2019).
The activity with the theme “Natural Phenomena” was deliberately held as a place to show the talents and creativity of PKK Study Program students and to express the work of Fashion and Beauty Design students. The head of the committee, Ni Putu Novi Darmini, conveyed that the clothes displayed were purely the work of 7th-semester students of Fashion and Beauty Design. This indicates that student creativity cannot be underestimated. Apart from that, it was revealed that this performance model was not only internal to Undiksha but also from outside. He also mentioned that this annual event is also a series of lecture activities and the birthday of the PKK study program.
Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Vocational (FTK) Undiksha, Dr. I Gede Sudirtha, S.Pd., M.Pd. who opened the event emphasized that the PKK Study Program does not only aim to produce prospective teachers, but also to make its students professional graduates who have skills in fashion, make-up and culinary according to their specialization. “In addition to being given pedagogical competence as prospective teachers, PKK Study Program students are also equipped with special skills such as dressmaking, make-up, and catering according to their specialization.”
This activity was highly appreciated by the dean and Undiksha leadership. It is hoped that students will not only have one competency so that they will be more prepared to face global competition. “In the era of the industrial revolution 4.0, all of our outputs or graduates (Undiksha-red) are expected to have not only one competency but multiple competencies. It is hoped that these skills in make-up and fashion can later become a profession as designers and beauticians for PKK graduates,” he added.
Preparation for this activity requires quite a long time, starting from consulting the design with the supervisor, followed by making the product by the students. In addition to charming models, this activity also presented 3 professional judges who gave an assessment of the results of student fashion and make-up designs. (hms)
