Singaraja- The presence of the Covid-19 pandemic which has been going on for one year has triggered changes in the world of education. Learning activities in schools switch to virtual space or in the network. Conditions that last for a long time have the potential to cause boredom in students. Anticipating this, the use of interactive and creative learning media can be used as an alternative. This was revealed in the workshop activities organized by Ph.D. students of the Undiksha Postgraduate Language Education Study Program, Kadek Wirahuni, S, Pd., M, Pd., Saturday (2/4/2021).
On the sidelines of these activities, Wirahuni who is also an academic, said that this workshop invited high school/vocational school teachers in Buleleng District as participants. She explained that learning media is an integral part of the educational process in schools and has a very important and strategic role in helping to achieve effective and efficient learning objectives. Learning media can also help clarify material that is still vague and poorly understood by students. In addition, it can also generate desire, interest, motivation, and good stimulation in learning activities.
Behind the importance of learning media, teachers still often experience obstacles. These obstacles include not having an in-depth and broader understanding of interactive and creative online learning media, not being able to properly utilize interactive and creative online learning media, and not being able to apply interactive and creative online learning media. “From this, I think there is still a need for training activities. The goal is that online learning can remain interesting with a touch of creative and interactive content,” she explained.
As explained further, interactive learning media is one of the learning methods or techniques used by the teacher/facilitator when presenting lesson material. In this case, the teacher becomes the main actor in creating an educative interactive situation, namely the interaction between teacher and student, student and student, and teacher and learning resources. This learning media can use video which is able to create a more “lively” atmosphere because it is equipped with visuals and sound. This media is also able to stimulate students’ responses so that they are more active in participating in learning.
Creative learning media, according to the woman from Sepang Village, Busungbiu District, can be used by teachers to motivate and bring out the creativity of students during the learning process. “This requires a creative attitude from an educator,” she said.
Undiksha Postgraduate Language Education Study Program Secretary, Dr. I Putu Mas Dewantara S.Pd., M.Pd. said, currently education is faced with two major situations, namely the demand to realize education 4.0 and the world situation which is during the Covid-19 pandemic. These two situations are faced by teachers. In response to this situation, one form of social sensitivity initiated by students of the Language Education Study Program is to organize online learning workshops for teachers, which is seen as a solution. He also hopes that this sharing activity can be carried out on an ongoing basis. “This is also a form of implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education in terms of community service,” he explained.
This academic from Jembrana assesses the synergy between study programs, students, and schools, in this case, teachers are still needed to create quality online learning both during this pandemic and post-pandemic. “Of course, we hope this activity can provide benefits and can be sustainable,” he added.
