Singaraja- Another admirable achievement managed to be earned by students of Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha. At Educational Law Content event held by Association for Studying the Faculty of Law, University of North Sumatra. The Undiksha team consists of Komang Citra Pratiwi, Nyoman Asri Mahadhyaksa, and Kadek Duwi Suryantini, students of the Law Studies Study Programme, Faculty of Law and Social Sciences.
In the competition, which took place on September 11, 2021, Citra and his friends managed to bring home first place after competing with 14 other participants from a number of universities in Indonesia. At the event, this third-semester student explained that they made a video work entitled “Be Aware by Using Social Media,” which was motivated by the many legal cases that occurred in the midst of today’s developments, such as cases of defamation, corruption, and defamation. waste. “With the competition, we from the Undiksha team intend to take part in the competition and choose the theme of defamation,” said Citra as the team coordinator, Wednesday (09/15/2021).
The choice of the theme, she continued, was due to the fact that in today’s all-digital era, many people use social media, and sometimes in using social media, many people do not sort out the words or comments that are written, causing defamation for someone. “In this day and age, words cut deeper than a knife. Here, we also reason that the related law has been regulated in the Criminal Code as well as the ITE Law, which few people know about, so we hope that with the choice of this theme, apart from us as a team, other friends can also learn and more aware of the use of social media,” she explained.
This student, born in 2002, does not deny that during the process of preparing her work, she encountered some difficulties because the preparation time was only one week and without a supervisor. In addition, the student from Banjar District, Buleleng, said that her team also lacked experience in making short films, so it was quite time-consuming and had sparked pessimism about winning the competition. “We don’t have experience making short films, so learning how to make short films, shoot angel videos, and edit them takes time. This also made our team a little pessimistic about being able to win the competition, especially considering the varied and educational video content made by other participants,” she recalled.
However, thanks to the effort and hard work done, and inseparable from the support of friends, lecturers in the Department of Law and Citizenship always provide motivation so that they win first place. “Although we do not use mentors in this competition, we are grateful that the lecturers of the Law and Citizenship Department, especially the Head of the Department, have always given motivation to us to continue working,” she said.
This Gemini student also stated that she got a lot of extraordinary knowledge and experience through this competition. In the future, she hopes to contribute again to participate in the competition with more confidence and be able to make the name of the department, faculty, and university proud. “So, friends, don’t be afraid to try, be creative, innovative, critical. and dare to create new and different,” she said.
Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Public Relations Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd., expressed his appreciation for the students’ enthusiasm to participate in the competition and be able to win the championship. “This spirit is what matters. Students can come up with creative ideas and participate in competitions. That’s good, especially to be able to win. We appreciate it,” he said. The Vice-Rector, who once served as the Postgraduate Director of Undiksha, said that achievements are important to support university rankings, raise student confidence, and increase competitiveness.
