Singaraja- Students of Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) created International achievement at the World Science, Environment and Engineering Competition (WSEEC) which took place at Jakarta Global University on 17th -20th June 2021. The team consisted of I Ketut Andika Pradnyana from the Master Program of Educational Technology, Ni Putu Ayu Pirdayanti from the Undergraduate Program of English Education, Putu Pipit Pricellia Eka Putri from the Undergraduate Program of Law Science, Putu Diah Pradnya Paramitha from the the Undergraduate Program of Accounting, and Ni Kadek Anggun Purwita Sari won gold medals and semi Grand Award.
In the competition, which was attended by participants from 21 Asian and European countries, Undiksha team presented the innovation “3D Animath: Mathematics Animation Learning Media for Intellectual Disability Students”. According to the team leader, Andika Pradnyana, this innovation is the development of learning media for intellectual disability children. There are learning materials for mathematics, snake and ladder games, picture guessing and quizzes. Monday, (21/6/2021), He explained, “The purpose of this media is to increase the enthusiasm and motivation of students in learning during the pandemic.”
Creating learning media for mentally retarded children was motivated by difficulties faced by teachers in delivering material, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition, this innovation was also a form of support for equitable distribution of educational services. Andika said, “This innovation is a form of community service, especially in the field of education,”. This innovation had been tested on a limited basis and the results were effective as learning media. Further trials would be conducted to take a deeper views at student responses.
He further stated that it took two weeks to prepare for this prestigious competition. Under the guidance of the lecturer, Dr. Ketut Agustini, S.Si., M.Si, it had resulted a prestigious achievement. Andika stated, “The preparations consisted of designing paper posters for exhibitions, and creating learning media. As an Undiksha student, I am proud having the opportunity and experience to participate in this extraordinary event. We are excited because we get support from the Vice Rector III Undiksha and our supervisor.”
He also expected that the innovation could be developed by the university and the government, so that it could provide benefits to the wider community. As he stated, “So, student work is not only a product of a course output, but can also be useful for the community.”
Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Public Relations Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd., expressed his appreciation for this achievement. He said, “This is an honor, because in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, Undiksha students are still enthusiastic to compete,”. He further stated that this achievement was not only important to improve the competitiveness of students, but also universities, both nationally and internationally. (PR)
