This prestigious event was organized by the Institute of Teacher Education, Darulaman Campus with the State Government of Kedah Darul Aman, Center of Excellence Geopolymer and Green Technology (CEGeogTech) and Malaysian Research & Innovation Society (MyRIS), University of Perlis Malaysia (UniMAP). There are at least 350 innovations that are contested, the work of participants from various countries.
Especially for the Undiksha team, team representative, Ni Putu Ayu Pirdayanti, Sunday (25/7/2021) said the work displayed at the event was Kolok.id: An Application for Digital Learning Media Integrated with Game and Kolok Dictionary to Improve Kolok Students’ Learning Performance in Covid-19 Pandemic. This work is an application that was developed with the main aim of making it easier for kolok (impaired) students to receive each lesson and facilitate student communication. The main features contained in this application include basic competencies and indicators, teaching materials, crossword games, quizzes, kolok dictionaries, and user guides. This application is also relevant to use during the Covid-19 pandemic to support student learning from home. “The background of making the Kolok.id application is the physical limitations of Kolok students which have an impact on the difficulty of the learning process. Teachers have difficulty getting creative and innovative learning media, it is difficult for kolok students to understand abstract learning materials and if by chance the special companion of kolok students (kolok language translators) is unable to attend, kolok students will have difficulty receiving lessons, “said the student born in Denpasar 1999.
This English Education Study Program student also said that as a student working in the field of education, he and his team were moved to participate in innovating and adding insight into education. Against the achievements, it also makes him feel proud. This cannot be separated from the role of the supervisor, I Wayan Pardi, S.Pd., M.Pd and the support from the Undiksha leadership. “Very happy, proud, and very grateful of course because the work of Undiksha children can get very good appreciation in the international arena. The hard work and collaboration of determining ideas, making abstracts, and making videos finally yielded maximum results. In addition, this activity also opens our horizons to open our eyes more with things that exist in our environment,” he said.
Apart from being proud of his achievements, through this event, he and his team also gain experience to share knowledge with other participants, who share the same vision, namely advancing education. This student from the village of Petang hopes that in the future her work can be developed again and can be directly implemented in a sustainable manner in inclusive schools and speech-impaired children.
