Singaraja- Achievements made by Ganesha Education University (Undiksha) students consisting of Kadek Yuda Wiryanatha from the Electrical Engineering Education Study Program, Kadek Reda Setiawan Suda Alumni from Electrical Engineering Education, Gede Sandita Widiada from Electrical Engineering Education Study Program, Luh Putu Restu Adi Utami from the Master of Education Study Program English, and Komang Putrayasa of the Legal Studies Study Program did not stop at the International Young Scientists Innovation Exhibition 2021 (IYSIE’21) Malaysia. The sweet achievements of students who are members of one team also came back from the International British Innovation, Invention Technology Exhibition (IBIX 2021) in the United Kingdom, London, which took place on 15-30 September 2021 and the awards were announced Wednesday (3/11/2021) . This team won a Gold Medal in the Appropriate Technology category.
Team member Sandita Widiada explained that the event was attended by participants from 28 countries, each of which presented innovations. In particular, the team presented work with the brand “MADITION”. This work is an appropriate technological tool to support the prevention of the spread of Covid-19. “So this tool was made when the coronavirus was increasing in Indonesia, especially in the Bali area,” said the student from Banyuning Village, Buleleng Regency.
He further explained the way the tool works is that it can give a signal in the form of an alarm when someone is not wearing a mask in a public place. “So it is hoped that this tool can reduce or prevent the spread of the coronavirus in Indonesia, especially in Bali,” he added.
Confirmed separately, Team Leader Yuda Wiryanatha explained that achieving this achievement was not easy. There are difficulties experienced, especially in dividing time between lectures, organization, and preparation for competitions. “To share our time with the team, we usually work in our free time, and we also usually use social media applications to have discussions with the team,” said the student who is also the Chair of the Industrial Technology Department Student Association (HMJ).
This fifth-semester student also does not deny that his success in achieving this brilliant achievement cannot be separated from the role of Dr. Nyoman Santiyadnya, S.Si., M.T., as well as support from Undiksha leaders. This team can’t stop the pride because the hard work that has been done for about two months can be paid off with proud achievements, which can also make Undiksha proud at the international level. “We don’t forget to thank Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa because of His blessings and grace, we were able to get here. This is also thanks to the spirit of the team and the attitude of mutual trust in the team,” he explained.
Vice-Chancellor for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Public Relations Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd., expressed his appreciation for this proud achievement. “This is an extraordinary achievement,” he said. He hopes that this spirit of achievement can be followed by other students. He emphasized that achievement is not only important to support the ranking of universities but can be an asset for students in order to increase competitiveness. “Let Undiksha students always pursue achievements,” he said.
